ParkO
2024
A Smart Parking Booking App- Making parking faster, simpler, and stress-free.
ParkO is a mobile application designed to help drivers discover, reserve, and navigate to parking spaces with confidence. The goal was to reduce the frustration of finding parking in busy urban environments by creating a seamless experience from discovery to reservation.

Overview
About ParkO
Drivers often spend valuable time searching for parking spaces without knowing:
Which spaces are available
How much they cost
How far they are
Whether they'll still be available upon arrival
This creates unnecessary stress, traffic congestion, and delays.
Users need a faster way to discover, compare, and reserve parking before reaching their destination.
Problem
Finding parking shouldn't feel like a treasure hunt
Urban commuters face several challenges when searching for parking:
Limited visibility into available parking spaces
Time wasted driving around crowded areas
Lack of pricing transparency
Complex and fragmented booking experiences
The goal was to design a solution that reduces search time, simplifies decision-making, and provides confidence throughout the booking journey.

01. No real-time visibility 02. Difficult comparison 03. Unclear availability
Research
Looking beyond the parking space

Finding parking is harder than driving there.
88% struggled to find a parking spot in crowded locations.
People don't trust the current parking experience.
60% felt they were being overcharged.
Parking management is still largely manual.

Research Participant
Users weren't looking for another parking app they were looking for confidence, convenience, and certainty throughout the parking journey.
Ideation
Exploring interface directions
Through interviews and workflow analysis, I identified several interface directions before arriving at the final experience.
Early concepts experimented with different approaches to parking discovery, comparison, and booking. The primary focus was reducing visual clutter while keeping important information accessible at every step.

Wireframes.
Testing interaction flows early
During usability testing, users quickly understood the booking flow but occasionally struggled with comparing parking options. To improve clarity, information hierarchy was refined and parking details were reorganized to surface the most important information first. This helped users make faster decisions while reducing cognitive effort.
Designs
Bringing the experience together
The final ParkO experience enables users to:
Discover nearby parking spaces
Compare options quickly
Reserve spots in advance
Navigate directly to their destination
By combining clear information architecture, intuitive interactions, and a streamlined booking flow, ParkO transforms parking from a stressful task into a predictable and confidence-driven experience.
Lessons
Three major insights
Users prioritize certainty over choice
Having fewer but reliable options was preferred over browsing dozens of parking spaces.
Pricing transparency builds trust
Users wanted pricing information before making any commitment.
Navigation is part of the experience
Booking a parking spot isn't the end goal. Successfully reaching it is equally important.
These learnings became the foundation for every design decision moving forward.
